HPV Testing

A new cervical screening test, available now, is expected to increase screening rates and significantly reduce cervical cancer deaths in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The HPV primary screening test is a simple and quick swab that patients can do themselves or assisted by a trained practice nurse, here at the health centre. It detects the presence of the human papillomavirus (HPV) which causes more than 95 percent of cervical cancers.

By having regular screening (usually every 5 years) and being immunised against HPV, you can protect yourself against cervical cancer. This way you can stay healthy for yourself and your whānau.
